HHS-OIG FOIA Response – No Records Located for Medical Billing / MiChart Investigations at University of Michigan Radiology (2017–2020)

This record documents a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) response issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General ( HHS-OIG ), on May 1, 2025 , in response to a request seeking records of investigations or reports concerning medical billing/MiChart practices at the University of Michigan Department of Radiology for the period January 1, 2017 through January 1, 2020 . HHS-OIG reported that it could not locate any responsive records to that request. No records were identified. The complaint remains. The below correspondence arises from a litigated FOIA appeal seeking the final report of an investigation associated with NIH grant R01 NS082304. In response, HHS-OIG advised in 2021 that no final report existed and provided the closing memorandum for complaint/case number (#5-17-0-0192-4), the same memorandum shown above.
