DOJ Confirms 500+ Page FBI File on Bradley Foerster in Russia-Gate FOIA Case; Records Set for Release May 4, 2026

Background on the FOIA Request

Bradley Foerster originally submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the FBI in January 2023 seeking his FBI file. The FBI responded that the estimated release date for the records would be 2028, including after an administrative appeal challenging the delay.

Foerster subsequently requested assistance from President Biden to facilitate the release of the file. The FBI maintained that the estimated release date remained 2028.

After President Trump returned to office, the FBI again confirmed the 2028 timeline and requested that the scope of the request be narrowed. Foerster complied by limiting the request to documents related specifically to Russia-Gate. Despite narrowing the request, the estimated volume of records (more than 500 pages) and the projected 2028 release timeframe remained unchanged.

Foerster subsequently filed the present FOIA litigation.
