Affidavits: University of Michigan Colleague Paul Cronin Discussed Russia-Gate Claims Before the Steele Dossier

Bradley Foerster and Dr. Myria Petrou submitted sworn affidavits in federal court describing statements made by Dr. Paul Cronin, a colleague at the University of Michigan, concerning Russia-Gate allegations.

The affidavits identify Dr. Cronin as the source of statements conveyed to Dr. Foerster and Duaa Altaee in 2016 and later relayed to Dr. Petrou. Dr. Petrou is not identified as the source.

According to the affidavits, Dr. Cronin described an alleged Russian effort to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election and claimed that Russia possessed kompromat on Donald Trump in the form of a sex tape. The affidavits further state that these statements were made months before the publication of the Steele Dossier.

The affidavits also attribute to Dr. Cronin statements that he was personally acquainted with then-FBI Director James Comey. Dr. Cronin also told Dr. Foerster and Duaa Altaee that Bob Mueller would be brought in “to clean up the mess.”

These affidavits were submitted as supplemental exhibits in federal FOIA litigation and provide sworn testimony bearing on the origin of the Russia-Gate record and the FBI reporting sequence documented in related records.
