Dr. Myria Petrou Letter to Dr. Ella Kazerooni (February 22, 2019) – Response to University of Michigan FOIA Records Regarding “Nick Bee”

This post presents a February 22, 2019 letter from Dr. Myria Petrou to Dr. Ella Kazerooni, Interim Chair of Radiology at the University of Michigan.

The letter was written following review of records produced by the University in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, including August 2017 communications attributed to “Nick B” and related Office of General Counsel activity (see FOIA production here).

The records reviewed by Dr. Petrou included materials later referenced in the University’s October 1, 2018 Office of Institutional Equity (Title IX) memorandum, which documented allegations attributed to “Nick Bee” and the University’s handling of those reports.

This letter reflects Dr. Petrou’s contemporaneous response following those materials, including questions regarding the initiation, scope, and handling of the underlying investigation.

“...you told me… that you knew nothing about ‘Nick B’”

In a separate meeting with Dr. Bradley Foerster in June 2018, Dr. Ella Kazerooni similarly stated that she “knew nothing about ‘Nick.’”

The document is presented below.
