City Attorney Thomas Kent Requests Search Warrant Affidavits Not Be Provided to Dr. Foerster and Dr. Petrou; Denies Threatening Attorney (Attorney Grievance Commission Response, 2017)
On September 5, 2017, City of Ann Arbor Senior Assistant City Attorney Thomas Kent submitted a written response to the Attorney Grievance Commission regarding a grievance filed by Dr. Bradley Foerster and Dr. Myria Petrou.
The response describes the investigation conducted by Detective Rougeau and confirms that search warrants were obtained and used to freeze the Grievants’ financial accounts, based on affidavits reviewed and approved by the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office.
In the conclusion of the response, Thomas Kent requests that Dr. Foerster and Dr. Petrou not be provided with the affidavits and warrants associated with those actions, stating that the criminal matter remained under review.
Thomas Kent denies that he threatened sanctions against counsel for Dr. Foerster and Dr. Petrou.
The search warrant affidavits were provided by the Attorney Grievance Commission in connection with this correspondence, representing the first time Dr. Foerster and Dr. Petrou obtained those materials.
Shortly thereafter, the University of Michigan Office of General Counsel hired Thomas Kent.
