Dr. Myria Petrou to the Ann Arbor Police Department: If My Understanding Is Incorrect, Please Tell Me Where
Following the Ann Arbor Police Department's response to a Freedom of Information Act request seeking records documenting the handling and chain of custody of the two "Nick" recordings referenced in AAPD Case No. 17-3517, Dr. Myria Petrou forwarded the Department's response to Detective Bradley Rougeau, Chief Andre Anderson, Lieutenant Anthony Petterle, City Attorney Atleen Kaur, and Mayor Christopher Taylor.
In the correspondence below, Dr. Petrou summarizes her understanding of the investigation, including the execution of search warrants, the prosecutor's subsequent determination regarding probable cause, the continued lack of identification of the individual known as "Nick," and her understanding that a DVD containing the "Nick" recordings became part of a Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General investigation.
Dr. Petrou concludes with a direct request to the Ann Arbor Police Department. If the Department believes her account is inaccurate, she asks that it identify the specific factual errors. If it does not, she asks how the Department intends to address the matters she raises. She further asks why the Department relied upon allegations made by Maria Petrou, Dr. Myria Petrou's mother, despite the absence of documentation obtained from Cyprus substantiating ownership of the funds and despite the existence of a durable power of attorney. As of the date of publication, no response to the correspondence has been received.
