Context of Dismissal Proceedings – University of Michigan (August 2018)

Summary: In August 2018, following a period of approved medical leave, Bradley Foerster, MD, PhD returned to the University of Michigan to discuss resumption of clinical responsibilities.

A meeting was scheduled with Dr. Ella Kazerooni to address clinical scheduling and return-to-work planning upon Dr. Foerster’s return from medical leave. During this meeting, Dr. Foerster was provided with a formal letter by Dr. Kazerooni and Executive Vice-Dean Dr. Carol Bradford initiating dismissal proceedings under Regents’ Bylaw 5.09.

The letter relieved Dr. Foerster of all duties and responsibilities effective immediately and initiated formal administrative proceedings.
