AAPD Case 17-3517: Previously Unreleased “Nick” Emails Allege Paternity, DNA Testing, and Extortion Involving Drs. Paul Cronin, Myria Petrou and Bradley Foerster (2020 FOIA Production)
In August 2017, an individual identifying himself as “Nick” sent emails making allegations concerning Dr. Paul Cronin, Dr. Myria Petrou, and Dr. Bradley Foerster. The communications included allegations involving sexual relationships, paternity, DNA testing, financial payments, and extortion.
August 12, 2017 — “Nick” Email Concerning Dr. Paul Cronin
In an August 12, 2017 email, “Nick” made allegations concerning Dr. Cronin's alcohol and prescription-drug use, employment, and personal circumstances. “Nick” claimed that Dr. Foerster possessed additional information about Dr. Cronin and directed the recipient to Dr. Ella Kazerooni, then Director of Cardiothoracic Radiology at the University of Michigan and Dr. Cronin's direct supervisor, for further information.
August 12, 2017 — Email attributed to “Nick” concerning Dr. Paul Cronin.
Additional “Nick” Emails — Paternity, DNA Testing, and Extortion
Other emails attributed to “Nick” alleged that Dr. Cronin had a sexual relationship with Dr. Petrou and was the biological father of her child, with references to DNA paternity testing.
“Nick” also accused Dr. Petrou and Dr. Foerster of extorting Dr. Cronin, alleging that Dr. Cronin had transferred more than $950,000 over the preceding year and was paying legal fees, travel expenses, and other costs. “Nick” further claimed that payments were intended to conceal the alleged relationship.
August 17, 2017 — Seventh AAPD Google Search Warrant
On August 17, 2017, AAPD obtained a seventh search warrant in Case 17-3517, directed to Google for email accounts associated with Dr. Paul Cronin and “Nickbee.” The warrant sought subscriber information, email communications, and associated IP address records.
The warrant followed Detective Bradley Rougeau's May 30, 2017 Bank of Ann Arbor search-warrant affidavit, which had incorporated allegations attributed to “Nick” concerning Dr. Cronin, Dr. Petrou, and Dr. Foerster.

2018–2020 — Earlier FOIA Omissions and Subsequent Disclosure
After AAPD closed Case 17-3517 in spring 2018, Dr. Bradley Foerster and Dr. Myria Petrou obtained the investigative file through FOIA. AAPD did not include the August 17 seventh search warrant or the Google communications obtained through it.
A subsequent FOIA request produced the seventh warrant, but not the underlying Google communications. Dr. Foerster filed another FOIA request on May 14, 2020, and AAPD subsequently released the previously unproduced emails attributed to “Nick.”
