Dr. Foerster Contacts President Trump About Russia-Gate. The FBI Promises a Response.
In September 2025, Dr. Bradley Foerster contacted President Donald J. Trump following FBI disclosures concerning records in his FBI file associated with Paul Cronin's Russia-Gate allegations.
The chronology was straightforward. During July through September 2016, Paul Cronin repeatedly communicated allegations concerning the 2016 Presidential Election and Russia-Gate to Dr. Foerster and Duaa Altaee. The FBI subsequently disclosed that Dr. Foerster's FBI file concerning Russia-Gate consisted primarily of records dated from 2018 through 2021. Dr. Foerster pointed out to President Trump that allegations first communicated in 2016 appeared to have generated an FBI file concentrated in the 2018-2021 period. He further noted that this timeframe overlapped with the Mueller era and asked what, if anything, that chronology revealed about the FBI's activities concerning the matter.
Dr. Foerster also questioned the role of the University of Michigan. He pointed out that University officials appeared throughout the chronology and stated that the University went "ape" after he asked it to facilitate testimony from Paul Cronin concerning the Russia-Gate allegations. Dr. Foerster further stated that the University departed from its own bylaws and procedures during subsequent proceedings against him and questioned whether those events were connected to the underlying Russia-Gate matter.
Dr. Foerster also asked why no substantive explanation had been provided concerning the disposition of the matter and suggested that release of the FBI file might help clarify what had occurred and what conclusions, if any, had ultimately been reached.
On October 21, 2025, the Federal Bureau of Investigation acknowledged that Dr. Foerster's communication to President Trump had been forwarded to the Department of Justice and subsequently referred to the FBI for review. The Bureau further advised that the matter had been forwarded to the appropriate offices for review and that a more detailed response was expected by January 29, 2026.
The next day, Dr. Foerster contacted President Trump again concerning the expected handling of the referral. He noted that the FBI referral indicated the complaint would be forwarded to a local office and expressed concern that the matter could be routed back to the Detroit or Ann Arbor FBI offices, which he stated had previously been told about related Bank of Ann Arbor issues in 2018.
Dr. Foerster further stated that the local FBI had previously declined to investigate related matters because of pending civil litigation and expressed concern that the referral could ultimately be used to investigate Dr. Foerster and Dr. Petrou rather than the conduct being reported. Dr. Foerster concluded by asking President Trump to oversee the referral process and ensure that the matter would be handled diligently and fairly.
No further response has been identified.
On April 12, 2026, Dr. Foerster submitted a Freedom of Information Act request seeking records relating to the review, investigation, handling, routing, assignment, disposition, or closure of the White House referral. The request specifically sought records sufficient to determine whether any review or investigation was initiated, even if no formal investigation was ultimately opened.
The Department of Justice subsequently advised that the request had been referred to the FBI for processing. After additional follow-up correspondence, DOJ again directed that inquiries concerning the request be addressed to the FBI.
On June 13, 2026, Dr. Foerster submitted the attached status inquiry seeking to determine where the White House referral was sent, who reviewed it, whether any review or investigation was conducted, and what actions, if any, were ultimately taken.
