422 Supporting Exhibits: Drs. Myria Petrou and Bradley Foerster Renew Request for Ann Arbor Observer Review of 2018 Coverage — FBI Investigation, University of Michigan Bylaw 5.09 Proceedings, and Sexual-Assault Report (October 8, 2026)

On October 8, 2026, Drs. Myria Petrou and Bradley Foerster renewed their request that Ann Arbor Observer Editor Brooke Black and Publisher Danielle Jones revisit four articles published about them in 2018.

Their September 3 correspondence directed the Observer to 282 supporting exhibits organized into four documentary chronologies. The Observer did not respond to that request. Since then, the record has expanded to 422 supporting exhibits across five chronologies, alongside newly published materials concerning Dr. Foerster's University of Michigan Bylaw 5.09 dismissal proceedings and the University's handling of Dr. Petrou's sexual-assault report.

Much of this evidence was unavailable when the Observer published its original articles. The October 8 follow-up asks the publication to reconsider that coverage in light of the fuller record.

FBI Investigation and 140 Additional Exhibits

In Foerster v. U.S. Department of Justice (1:25-cv-03277-CJN), the FBI had processed 520 pages of investigative records and audio materials as of September 11, 2026, with 16 pages remaining in consultation. The released records concern an investigation involving NIH ALS grant R01NS082304, communications with the University of Michigan and HHS-OIG, discussions of potential debarment, and a federal prosecutorial declination.

On September 28, Dr. Foerster submitted a 140-exhibit, 1,121-page documentary chronology to the FBI requesting supervisory review of the investigation involving Drs. Foerster and Petrou and Duaa Altaee.

The FBI chronology joins four previously published collections concerning Dr. Eva Feldman (139 exhibits), Bank of Ann Arbor (8), Ann Arbor Police Department (72), and Timothy G. Lynch / University of Michigan (63), bringing the combined total to 422 supporting exhibits.

University of Michigan Bylaw 5.09 Dismissal Proceedings

The principal record of Dr. Foerster's University of Michigan Bylaw 5.09 dismissal proceedings is now publicly available, including testimony before the Ad Hoc Hearing Committee and SACUA, the committees' decisions, Dr. Foerster's rebuttal, and President Mark Schlissel's dismissal recommendation.

Dr. Myria Petrou's Resignation and Sexual-Assault Report

In her September 24, 2018 resignation letter, Dr. Petrou described statements by University of Michigan colleague Dr. Paul Cronin alleging that her February 2017 miscarriage resulted from an intentional pharmacologic intervention by "Reed and company," referring to then-Radiology Chair Dr. Reed Dunnick and others. Dr. Petrou stated that she believed she had been sexually assaulted.

The University of Michigan Office of General Counsel forwarded her resignation letter to University Police. The investigation was subsequently closed for "lack of information" without Dr. Petrou being interviewed. Her account was later presented during Dr. Foerster's Bylaw 5.09 dismissal proceedings.

Dr. Petrou raised these concerns with University President Santa Ono in October 2022 and renewed her request for Governor Gretchen Whitmer's assistance in obtaining an independent review on October 4, 2026.

October 8, 2026 — Renewed Request to the Ann Arbor Observer

The FBI disclosures, published Bylaw 5.09 proceedings, and records concerning Dr. Petrou's sexual-assault report provide a fuller documentary account of matters previously reported by the Observer. Drs. Petrou and Foerster again asked whether the publication intends to revisit, supplement, correct, or otherwise address its 2018 coverage in light of these records.

The complete correspondence below preserves the September 3 request and October 8 follow-up, including the documentary references provided to the Observer's editorial leadership.
