Dr. Paul Cronin Deposition Testimony Concerning “Nick,” Recordings, and Extortion Allegations

The following excerpts are taken from the June 2017 deposition of Dr. Paul Cronin and concern allegations involving an unidentified individual referred to as “Nick” or “Nick Bee” — allegations that later appeared across University of Michigan, Ann Arbor Police Department, Office of Institutional Equity, and federal investigative records.

The testimony includes questioning regarding recordings attributed to “Nick,” whether Dr. Cronin recognized the voice contained in those recordings, whether he knew anyone using that identity, and whether he had communicated with such an individual concerning Dr. Bradley Foerster or Dr. Myria Petrou.

Additional portions address recordings attributed to “Nick,” allegations involving extortion, and Dr. Cronin’s sworn responses during questioning.

The recordings referenced during the deposition were later incorporated into Ann Arbor Police Department investigative materials and subsequent University of Michigan records.

The recordings themselves are not reproduced here. The excerpts below are limited to deposition testimony and record materials.

The excerpts are presented with minimal commentary so the testimony, denials, and surrounding record may be reviewed directly in context.
